All Councils provide a stray dog service and use designated kennels to house dogs.

strayed into or has been taken to another area before being handed in

When a rescue name is included in a report, that organisation has the information about the animal.
Please contact rescues at a reasonable time as the
people involved are volunteers, who are unpaid and cannot be expected to answer telephones at unsociable hours.

If anyone you know has found or lost a pet and does NOT have internet access they can call 01226 285662 or 01226 722907.
Please refer to the Cat Colour/Markings Guide before making a Lost or
Found report for a cat. PLEASE check your report before
submission as we cannot publish reports lacking vital information
eg. type of animal or contact information
Volunteering
All rescues are desperately in need of knowledgeable people who are prepared to foster cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, rabbits etc until new homes can be found.
Unbelievable pressure is put upon the few people who currently do this work and there are always far more animals needing a temporary home than there are places for them to go to.
Many animals end up abandoned or put to sleep due to lack of volunteers.
You could save a life by offering your help.

Make & distribute posters & Check with:
Dog warden & cleansing departments of local councils.
Vets, neighbours, postmen, milkmen, local schools.
Check Gardens thoroughly including garages, sheds, cars,
other small enclosed areas, also fields and hedgerows.
Cats often get trapped in cupboards, driers, washing machines etc.
Check with other Lost & Found registers. Animal welfare & Rescue organisations. http://www.catchat.org/lost.html will also provide a great deal of information for helping to find your cat
Microchipping pets has become an invaluable source for reuniting animals
with their owners, wherever they may turn up.
All vets, most rescues & dog wardens use this facility to identify found animals and
most can microchip your pet for a small charge, or in some cases entirely FREE.
